The show is meant to create a space for local community connections while encouraging broader cultural awareness by presenting our photography and showcasing a range of Oaxaca’s creative traditions.

The artisan products that will be on display come from our friends in Oaxaca and represent a living history and dedication to local crafts which have spanned generations, personify communities and define family legacies.

MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHERS

We are celebrating Oaxaca’s vibrant culture through our body of work that was made over a decade of personal experiences, while proudly showcasing the works of our friends who are preserving the creative soul of Oaxaca.

Tony White

Writer | Photographer

I first picked up a camera as a high school reporting student, and later received college degrees in fine art photography and photojournalism. I have worked as a freelance food and travel writer for many years.

In 2018 my work took me to Mexico where I first fell in love with Oaxaca, and later with a Oaxaqueña. My wife Carmen and I started Almas Viejas Tours in 2020 and we were married in her hometown in 2023.

Stephan Werk

Photographer | Filmmaker

I'm a Denver-based photographer and filmmaker specializing in hospitality, architecture, and travel. My connection to Oaxaca began in 2017 while directing my documentary, Sons of Mezcal, following four mezcal-producing families and their generations of tradition and craftsmanship.

What began as a film grew into a lasting connection with Oaxaca and its people. Through OAX, I'm sharing a more personal side of my photography, documenting the landscapes, everyday life, and culture I've encountered over years of travel.
